Why I Won't Call Lilibet Diana or Archie Harrison a Princess and Prince
Palace scrambles after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drop a bombshell about their children Lilibet and Archie
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced to the world that their daughter Lilibet Diana should now be known as “Princess” Lilibet Diana.
I’m sorry, but I can’t call her that nor can I call Archie a “Prince.”
Yes, technically it may be part of her heritage as the granddaughter of King Charles, and perhaps it is petty to make this decision, but I think being royal means something.
Having a royal title and being part of a royal family means that you represent centuries of history. From William the Conquerer and Eleanor of Aquitaine to Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I, and all the way to the current King Charles III. The British royal family is a living piece of history, steeped in tradition, culture, dignity, service and an understanding that having a royal title isn’t necessarily a right, but a privilege.
Harold and Meg, as they call themselves, see it as an ATM card.
A royal title is something to monetize and commercialize, a way to make the Hollywood bigwigs who ignored Meghan Markle, a rather talentless actress, take notice of her new status.
As Camilla Tominey so fantastically put it in The Telegraph’s weekly email newsletter, “As with the financial imperative behind their move to the U.S., why don’t they just be honest and say they can’t afford to ditch the titles because it gives them more value in the States? Is this really about birthright or the right to book the best tables in Los Angeles restaurants?”
If Harry and Meghan really cared about the birthright of their children, they would build bridges to the royal family, instead of burning them. They would take responsibility for some of their irresponsible, rash and childish decisions that have led to the rift, instead of blaming everyone else. They would allow Lili to spend more than 4-5 days in the U.K. and Archie a mere 6-8 months, and give their children a chance to play with their cousins and extended family.
But Harry and Meghan are too greedy and self-indulgent to do that.
They cannot stand on their own, so they’ll once again use the generosity of the Crown against them to get their way.
And the only ones that will suffer are Archie and Lili.
Given the way most of Europe is going, it won’t be a surprise if they only have those titles for 10-15 years at most. By that time, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will probably be on the throne and looking to do more to slim down the monarchy and eliminate any drag. That would likely include the completely unnecessary titles for Archie and Lili, who at that point would probably spend more time with Tyler Perry in Atlanta than with their own family.
Meghan and Harry have set their children up for failure, and I refuse to play along with their games. So I will go against convention, what I know is technically accurate, and make the editorial decision to simply call them Archie and Lili. The only time I would consider changing my mind is if Harry and Meghan make a concerted effort to embrace their royal relatives and mend bridges.
Until then, make no mistake, this is a PR stunt and I refuse to play into Harry and Meghan’s games.

Princess of Wales braved the cold to spend time with the Irish Guards, as their newly installed Colonel. She took part in a training exercise where she helped evacuate a service member experiencing a lower limb injury. Wearing camouflage, she toured the Salisbury Plain training area as well, and will likely join the Irish Guard for their annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 17.
Princess Madeleine of Sweden relocating back to Sweden, after spending the last couple of years in Florida. The Princess will move back into her former home in the Royal Stables in Stockholm, and her children will start school in the fall. This helps secure their place in the line of success, as the children must be educated in Swedish schools and speak Swedish.
Princess Iman has her Henna Party, in the lead to her March 12 wedding. The date of her nuptials were recently announced, after her engagement was revealed several months ago. At the event, she also wore the Bruce Oldfield belt her mother Queen Rania wore on her wedding day in 1993.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are currently on tour in Slovakia, which ends on Thursday March 9. The couple spent two days in Bratislava and then will end the tour in the Tatra region, where the country is hosting some Ukrainian refugees.
I love and trust all Britney reports on Remember they registered the website for those kids even before they were born, and you are right how could they represent a state or area when they have nothing to do with it? and for all the people that support her because she is Biracial what exactly has she done for your people besides nothing?
I agree with you. This "announcement" by the ex-royals is nothing more then a money-grab on behalf of the parents. Trying to force KC hand before the coronation, in revenge of not renewing their lease on Frogmore. Sadly, KC is allowing his son to make a mockery of a thousand year old monarchy and turn it into a circus. As an American, I really don't have a dog in this race (except the drug using-by his own numerous admissions- prince & his family live here), but I do hope that KC finally grows a pair and puts a stop to this nonsense. Megain is in a full-on narc rage and this will not stop until KC puts a stop to it. If he doesn't, I'm afraid PW chance of taking the thrown one day will lessen with each new outburst by the couple and nothing done.
