Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Respond to 'South Park'
Prince William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales make an appearance at the BAFTAs
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced the satirical wrath of “South Park” on a recent episode entitled, “World Wide Privacy Tour.” Nearly a week after the program, the couple’s spokesperson has finally made a statement to People Magazine.
And, unsurprisingly, it confirms everything “South Park” pointed out about the couple.
“It’s all frankly nonsense. Totally baseless, boring reports,” their spokesperson said in response to rumors the couple were considering suing.
But if it was all “nonsense,” “baseless” and “boring,” then why make any statement at all? Why not just ignore everything and move on, giving your spokesperson something more important to do?
Well, simply, the couple want the public to “Stop Looking at Us,” while wanting us to look and pay attention to them at the same time. They are literally living out their “South Park” characterizations.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Best practice for a PR team would have been to ignore everything. If they do, the controversy will blow over in a few days or in a week. But commenting so far after the episode aired and claiming that everything is “nonsense” both puts the story they supposedly don’t want in the headlines back in the headlines, while also confirming that the episode truly bothered them.
What “South Park” captured so well is Meghan’s desperate drive for attention. For her entire life, she’s only wanted to be rich and famous, which is something she featured in her reality tv show when visiting her elementary school teacher.
However, she never considered what fame and fortune would cost her. She thought it would make her life perfect, that everyone would fall under her spell and that the world would grovel at the feet of her brilliance.
Well, that didn’t happen in the U.K., and it hasn’t happened in the U.S. either. Her dream is crumbling and she’s become the focus of mockery and not adoration.
Sure, she has her fans but the public’s perception is moving from mostly ambivalence and curiosity to annoyance and derision.
The “South Park” episode encapsulated who she is so well, and that’s why they had to respond to something.
One of Meghan’s great faults is that she can’t leave well enough alone. She has to correct every alleged bit of “misinformation,” no matter how slight. That’s what frustrated her about being a royal. She wanted to attack and respond to every inane story, no matter how pointless.
So, in the end, Meghan Markle would demand to respond in some way to “South Park,” even if not directly about the episode itself.

You all are incredible! And there are just so many amazing comments, but this is one of my favorite’s:
We knew this was coming. As you stated they never know when to keep their mouth’s shut. Releasing a statement through their spokesperson confirms that they were bothered by the episode because it so accurately depicts the couple. Especially Meghan’s brand and vapid empty headedness. I can see Meghan’s ire regarding the episode extending to Harry because by the end he realized he was a person and not some product that needs branding. Whereas Meghan was nothing and nobody without her “brand”.
Hi Brittany- I hope that if the Luxembourg case is handled and resolved correctly and there is a good outcome for the employees that will bring the discussion back up about MM. Seems to me she "got away with it". Can you cover which European royals will be at the Coronation? And what they wear ofcourse! Thanks!
