Meghan Markle’s Laziness at Heart of Implosion
The Prince and Princess of Wales joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at recent Order of the Garter Ceremony
Meghan Markle barged into the royal family with an agenda. The c/d-list actress, depending on who you ask, believed that snagging the hapless Prince Harry not only secured her a large bank account to indulge her obsession with Christian Dior, but was her ticket to the Hollywood stardom that always alluded her as a side character on “Suits.”
Five years later, her implosion on the international stage has begun.
After a disastrous time with the royal family, Meghan manipulated her husband into leaving the U.K., with her precious “Duchess of Sussex” title in tow, to set up shop in Montecito, California. In quick succession, she managed to land her and her husband deals with Spotify, Netflix and a publisher, to the tune of upwards of $150 million.
Though Prince William would inherit billion-pound Duchy of Cornwall in September 2022 after the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan believed that she could one up her hated in-laws and pushed her PR team to float the notion that she was on her way to creating her own billion empire. She was simply amazing and perfection, according to her dwindling number of stans.
But Meghan forgot one critical component. At the heart of every man or woman who has built an empire based on their intellect, talent or skills, is a drive, sacrifice, and a relentless passion for either their profession or discovery.
Meghan has none of those qualities.
It’s become clear that Meghan wanted all the money, accolades and the success of some of the most successful people in Hollywood, but didn’t want to put in any work to make her dreams a reality.
Spotify didn’t drop Meghan just because her podcast was a middling success, which it was, but because she and her husband couldn’t do more beyond the bare minimum and most of their ideas were basic or boring. I mean, this is the woman who thought that Archetypes was somehow groundbreaking, though she failed to tread any new ground on the topic and spent most of the time talking about herself.
When it comes to Netflix, sure her and Harry had a hit with their reality television show about their time in the royal family, but that was ALWAYS going to be a success. Drama sells, and a small peak behind-the-scenes of royal life, which is usually so closely guarded, was a guaranteed hit.
But that was it.
Her animated project “Pearl” was either simply always in development hell or just simply so horrifically bad that Netflix scrapped it before it got too far. Now the couple is left with the abysmal failure of “Live to Lead,” (if you haven’t heard of it, don’t worry, no one else has either), and “Hearts of Invictus,” which may crash and burn under the couple’s cratering popularity.
Needless to say, the deal with the streaming giant is likely dead in the water as well.
Then there’s the publishing deal. While Meghan still may publish a memoir, does anyone care? Perhaps they’ll gravitate to it more than her book “The Bench,” which was also dead on arrival.
All these failures aren’t a surprise, though they were completely unavoidable if Meghan has done the one thing that she’s tried to avoid for her entire time as an actress, influencer, royal, media mogul: work.
Tom Bower talks about this in his book on the couple “Revenge,” where he highlights a theatre professor who told Meghan she perhaps had some talent but she need to hone her craft by doing theatre. Instead, Meghan went to Hollywood and took a series of “hot girl” roles for two seconds of screen time in various television shows and movies. She got nothing of significance until “Suits,” and even then she was the side character.
Her blog “The Tig,” is also basic and uninspiring, and, if rumors are to be believed, was written by others for most of its shelf life.
Meghan is many things, but a hard worker is not one of them. She thought a royal title was the ticket to the easy life. Flash that “Duchess of Sussex” title around with a coy smile and a girly giggle and people will just give her money and attention.
While that worked in the beginning, the public and then Hollywood realized that Meghan’s endless self-congratulatory word salad nonsense was as empty as her persona and work.
The protection she initially experienced when she first arrived back in her home town is now officially gone. She was called out by Bill Simmons for being a “f—king grifter” and it’s once again being reported that she didn’t interview anyone for her podcast, but the celebrities. Leaving her producers and staff to do the research, writing and interviews Meghan deemed beneath her.
Things have quickly gotten so bad, that Meghan’s team has been forced to deny that she and Harry are not signing a deal with Dior, likely under pressure from Dior demanding that they put an end to the rumors.
It’s all so ironic, considering that the brand perhaps gifted her with a coveted Lady Dior bag emblazoned with DSSOS, or the Duchess of Sussex, which she proudly displayed in New York City in September.
Perhaps now it could be updated to better reflect Meghan’s new publicly installed title: DSSLAZY or the Duchess of Lazy.
King Charles’ Balcony Mistake
It is understandable why King Charles didn’t want to take the risk of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle or Prince Andrew appearing on Buckingham Palace’s balcony. Given the challenges that the three have thrown Charles and the Queen over the last five years, their presence would cause consternation with the public.
But has he gone too far?
This year, the balcony seemed rather empty as Charles limited it to just working royals and the Wales’ children. Prince Edward and Sophie The Duchess of Edinburgh’s children didn’t even merit an invitation, though they were there for the Coronation.
The rest of the extended royal family was apparently at the Palace, as some were spotted on an interior balcony, but the event seemed to lack some spark without the rest of the royals.
Part of the fun of the Trooping the Colour is seeing the entire family, not just the working royals. We’ve had the same balcony line-up four times in a row pretty much, which made sense for the Jubilee and the Coronation, but it’s more difficult to justify now.
Minimizing the number of working royals is a trend that is sweeping Europe, but it wouldn’t hurt Charles to include his nieces and nephews and their children. That would provide some much variation on the balcony, otherwise it could be a little less impressive and, dare I say it, a little more boring.
More Royal News…
The British royals gathered for the annual Order of the Garter ceremony. It’s the first with Charles as sovereign and the second for Camilla, who was instituted as a member last year during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The usual attendees included Catherine The Princess of Wales and Sophie The Duchess of Edinburgh, in addition to Princess Anne and Prince Edward. The semi-exiled Prince Andrew, Duke of York, was not invited.
Prince William, the Prince of Wales, gave an interview to the Sunday Times, talking about his desire to end homelessness and his plans to use some of the land of the Duchy of Cornwall to offer subsidized housing.
The Princess of Wales wrote a letter to commemorate the care given by hospice staff and family members towards children. The Princess wrote: "On behalf of parents and carers across the country, I would like to say a huge thank you to all those working in Children’s Hospices. You are a shining light to so many families in their darkest times and your efforts do not go unnoticed."

Look of the Week…
Bold in green, the Princess of Wales stole the show at the recent Trooping the Colour, giving a nod to both her position as Colonel of the Irish Guards and the green field in the flag of Wales.
Oh, it’s a Tiara!!!
Quen Mathilde of the Belgians (left) and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands (right) share a quick word during the Dutch official visit to the Belgium. Mathilde is in her grandest tiara, the Nine Provinces Tiara, and Maxima in the House Tiara, which is the Stuart Tiara sans the Stuart Diamond, a 40-carat light blue diamond that sits at the top of the diamond. Maxima has exchanged it for a “smaller” stone, if a 20-30-carat diamond could be considered small.
Her new title is LFG; lazy, f-ing grifter.
Andrew WAS at the Garter ceremony; he's just not allowed to walk in the procession.
